It seems I accidentally deleted the index file for the news posts. This was actually somewhat of a good thing, since I should have written a script to rebuild an index from the existing data files in the first place. I'll have the news back up soon.

EDIT: Okay, the index has been rebuilt, but it appears that the notice states for the posts were lost. I'll go through post by post and retag the notices as such.

I'm not exactly sure when the downtime began, but I know for a fact that from around 11 this morning to about 8 this evening, the local network here wasn't functioning properly. I power-cycled the router, and this seems to have fixed whatever it was that went wrong. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Downtime and FTP Issues

Tonight, at around 11:20 PM, our ISP went offline in this area. If you can read this, they've fixed the problem and the server should be accessible again.

I'd also like to address an issue that has been present for a while now. The FTP server software we currently use has ceased functioning. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, rebooted, and all but turned the server inside-out in an effort to find out why this happened, without luck.

I'm not willing to try and implement the same virtual directory structure in a completely new FTP server under Windows, so I've made the decision to wait until the new server is assembled and configured. I mentioned a major hardware upgrade in my previous post, which may have been a slight understatement. In effect, the entire system is going to be replaced. In addition, we will be migrating from Windows Server 2003 to the latest LTS release of Ubuntu Server. Virtual directories under Linux are incredibly simple, and it will be easy as cake pie to implement the currently-configured directory structure on the new server.

I want there to be as little downtime for the system exchange as possible, so I'm preparing the system so it will be as simple as unplugging the old server and plugging in the new one. Until the new system is up and running, I encourage all customers to use the web-based file manager to manipulate their files. I've already provided file manager accounts to package 1 users until then. I'll keep you posted here on the progress of the new server.
